Dr. Mildred McClain, known as Mama Bahati, is a Movement Elders Distinguished Fellow at Groundswell and the founder of Harambee House. With over 50 years in education, public health, and environmental justice, she has championed youth leadership and collaborated with key agencies to advocate for marginalized communities. She holds degrees from Harvard and the University of Massachusetts and has received prestigious awards for her environmental justice work. A devout Pan-Africanist, Mama Bahati is also dedicated to spiritual practices and community well-being.

Marcus Thompson leads our youth initiatives, focusing on leadership development and environmental education. With a background in education and mentoring, he empowers young people to become community change agents.
Jasmine Rivera Environmental Health Specialist

David Williams manages our volunteer programs, recruiting and training individuals dedicated to our mission. His organizational skills and passion for service ensure that our volunteers are well-prepared and motivated to make a difference.
Jasmine Rivera, with a degree in Environmental Science, works on health initiatives addressing pollution impacts. She conducts workshops and health screenings, aiming to improve community health through education and advocacy.
